Exhibit at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai
Our company showcased apparel and other creations, developed in collaboration with member companies of the Kansai Fashion Association, at the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai.
Amid the diverse showcases, the fashion Yamamoto expressed as our vision for the future was embodied in the following lineup.
1: Wearing ’Air’
In the future, human beings may be living in space. In order to live safely, the displayed clothes expresses ‘air’ which is essential to the human beings. The air dome secures air and adjusts to changes in temperature and supplies clean oxygen. The suit inside is devised so that anyone including the elderly can easily wear or take off and also functions to promote blood circulation throughout the body. If global warming and air pollution increases, then how will human beings adjust to the change?
2: Wearing a ‘Rainbow’
This ‘space dress’ can be worn by anyone regardless of sex or age so that everyone can enjoy fashion in the future. This dress is displayed on a male mannequin. The design uses optical illusions as a method to show that even men’s broad bone structures can naturally look feminine. This dress is also devised so that anyone can easily wear or take off. The rubber material changes colors in 7 ways depending on the angle. This expresses a rainbow which is a symbol of diversity that transcends all ‘borders’.
3: Floating shoes
Floating in the air must have been everyone’s dream for at least once. This shoe display is an exciting image of the future. Electromagnet repulsion is used to float the shoes in the air. The eco-friendly special rubber used in the shoes can stretch 7 times more. Not only is this exciting, but this may be applied to nursing care scenes where those with weak legs can be supported. Let’s look forward to an exciting future!
4: Hat that Changes ‘Air’
In Japanese, the word ‘air’ also holds the meaning of ‘atmosphere’. This hat can change its shape freely to fit the human head perfectly. Just looking at this hat can make one feel excited. This color-changing rubber material has no visible seams and yet is stitched to fit comfortably on any head. This skilled technique comes from years of experience in making berets. The motif of this design is a fertilized egg. At this point, when the difference in gender does not show, life is surrounded by purity, equality and possibility. We wish that this hat can change the ‘air’ so that the future can be overflown with smiles.
What we presented in this exhibition marks just a beginning.
Inspired by the stage of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Yamamoto collaborated with local companies and designers to propose new possibilities of materials for the future.
Many partner team members were thrilled by Yamamoto’s materials such as AURORA, and their enthusiasm became a powerful driving force for us as well.
These initiatives were displayed in the “WakuWaku Zone” of the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion. In Japanese, waku waku expresses a sense of excitement and anticipation—when the heart races with joy and expectation for what lies ahead. True to its name, we hope visitors experienced a glimpse of that uplifting vision of what the future could hold.
Yamamoto will continue to explore the limitless potential of materials and open new horizons for the future.
